I avoided all Black Friday shopping (except thrifting, of course) to save up for Cyber Monday. Free shipping is my weakness and I’m on the hunt for that today. Did you participate in Black Friday? How was it?

Have a great Monday,

It is here!

After celebrating for over a week, it’s finally my actual day of birth. I was born in the afternoon but my mom says that she starts to get labor pains the night before my birthday every year. She also told me last night that I was born the sunday before Thanksgiving, but she didn’t get home from the hospital until the day before. She still cooked a whole Thanksgiving meal that year – she is such a super woman. Well I just wanted to share a few pictures from my Wednesday celebration:

Outfit 2 (with Outfit 3’s shoes)

My gorgeous girls (natural hair abounds with my lovely friends)

And my favorite local Thai place where they surprised me for dinner

I am so blessed to have people in my life who will over celebrate my birthday with me. On the actual day I just want to thrift and eat some frozen yogurt (I am not hard to please 🙂 ) What are you up to today?

ABS Vintage will be having a great Cyber Monday sale! Free shipping on all orders over $20 and new fall and discount items — so don’t miss out!

Have a great weekend,

Birthday Suit 1, 2 or 3

Friday is my birthday! Over the weekend, I celebrated with my incredible friends in DC (and my NY loves made an appearance too!). Tonight is my traditional Pittsburgh celebration with my group of girls. Then I’ll do my family celebration on Thanksgiving and thrifting on Friday! My perfect birthday 🙂 So this morning my thoughts were on the perfect look for tonight. Here are the three choices I am thinking about:

1. Floral + Motorcycle Jacket

UO Jacket| Floral Shift w/ pockets, Leather and Suede boots, AE shoulder bag: thrifted

2. Shorts Suit + Chambray

Barrage Tuxedo Blazer, LizSport Button down, Necklace: Thrifted| Silence + Noise Shorts: Goodwill| Carlos Santana Nude Peeptoe: Buffalo Exchange

3. Sequins + Silk

City Streets Navy Blazer, Sequins Top: Thrifted| Jezebel Tapered Trousers: Gabriel Brothers| Snakeprint Nude Pumps: Rugged Warehouse, VA

I am really leaning towards look two, but I do love a little sparkle on my birthday. Look one feels a little similar to what I wore during my weekend birthday celebration, but I can’t say no to a good rocker floral. Help me pick!

I don’t really do Black Friday but I will be more than ready when Cyber Monday rolls around. I love “free shipping” deals and many sites give really good deals (including ABS Vintage!). We’ll talk about some of these steals next time.

Have an amazing Thanksgiving, my loves. The list of things that I am thankful for has no end, but you all have most definitely made the list. This blog has given me so much since I started it over a year ago. And knowing that I have some of you keeping on this journey means so much. Blogging has changed my life, and my amazing readers have been along for the ride. Thank you all!

Enjoy the holiday!

Overlooked Must Haves for the Perfect Holiday Dress

I’ve seen a lot of articles lately giving you the essentials for the perfect holiday look. Sequins, velvet, fur and metallics always make the list. These showstoppers do have a perfect place in the holiday dress hall of fame, but there are a few others that I don’t think get enough credit for their greatness. Here is my holiday party essentials list:

Nothing says festive more than a textured fabric with gold leaf details. Brocade is everything I love about cold weather fashion. This is a must must for your holiday look. I have seen some very cute options at JCPenney, may be a good place to start your hunt.

Vintage Floral

Floral is a huge pattern for summer and spring, but it can also be perfect for your next holiday look. When I want to bring my florals in to cooler weather I add dark tights, and pair them with weather appropriate pieces like fur or wool. Vintage floral patterns are often a little less busy than summer floral and will give you room to style for the season. Think spaced out flowers for bright colors and clustered flowers for dark. This will bring the perfect new attitude to your normal holiday wardrobe.

Jewel Toned Lace

Dark colored lace is always perfect for the season. But this holiday I am loving bright lace skater dresses to pieces. I am not a fan of red lace, but jewel tones like blue, purple, deep yellow and coral could not have a more perfect look for the holiday. Forever21 has some good options – especially this rhinestone collar one. I want!

Fun Prints

Feathers, Holly Leathers, Postcards. I have seen adorable dresses with either of these zany prints. It’s so fun, and it gives your outfit a little more personal style than the prints that you always see. Be bold with this trend. Keep your accessories basic and let your print be the star. ModCloth is a great place to find new and super adorable prints.

Floor Length Maxis

I am pretty sure that this will be my go-to for holiday looks this season. A floor length maxi skirt or dress paired with a fun blazer or chunky sweater is the most simple (and great) options for a party look. Black is classic but try to venture out in to dark blue and deep purple, burgundy or wine colors. This will add do much to your look without a ton of work.

Add a fur collar or vest to any of these looks. Throw on some sparkle with your jewerly, or the perfect metallic pumps. You can use the holiday attire veteran trends with these newcomers and be the talk of the party. Tis’ the season to be jolly and very well dressed 🙂

Okay loves, I am traveling for a bit so I will be back on Wednesday. Fun stuff coming up for Anything but Style, very excited to tell you all about it!

Happy Friday,

The Inside on Outerwear

Happy Manly Monday loves! Per my usual Sunday, I spent yesterday at my Daddy’s house reading all of his men’s style magazines (yup, my Dad is that fly). A few magazines in I noticed a trend of less than typical outerwear for men this season. I love how fashion rules just change and all of a sudden something that no one thought was acceptable is on the cover of every magazine. Here are some of the outerwear alternatives for the gentleman this fall:

Puffer Vest

I must admit that I was not a big fan of the puffer vest by itself. So the puffer vest mixed with a tailored suit was like double horrible. A few pictures of Big Sean rocking a thinner vest changed my mind completely. I really like how this look brings a bit of casual to your normal suit. And keeping every piece tailored gives you all the class you need. You can replace your 3 piece vest, or throw it on top of a blazer or sweater. I would send you nowhere else but your local thrift store to find a wide variety of puffer vests. They are everywhere.

These used to be paired only with suits for the fancy occasions. Topcoats can now be your outerwear with jeans and a button down, sweater or hoodie. It just gives that extra look of purpose to any outfit. Dressing casual is fine, but I think that you should alway look like some effort was given. And a topcoat is the perfect way to do this. This is another trend that thrift stores have ton of. I have been finding great wool topcoats lately for under $35. Take a look before you head to a store to spend way more.

Sherpa/Shearling Lined

From bomber to lined denim jackets, there is nothing uncool about this outwear option. There is something so woodsman and pilot about the look. Finding these in good condition and fit is going to be the important part during a thrift hunt – but it is totally possibly. I have found two amazing sherpa collared mens coats for the store (they sold instantly). Try to keep the look as tailored as possible, and pair it with almost anything in your closet.

You can see that I am on my celeb crush today with these pictures. I am so happy to see celeb and real life cuties trying a little something different when it comes to bundling up this fall. You can take some risks and still stay very true to your personal style. And look super great while you do it 🙂

I will be working on ABS Vintage today. My long break from you guys let stuff really pile up so I’m working through the pile now. We still have great fall pieces and summer sale items – shop around!

Have a great day,

Rave Reviews: Grandoe HomeSpun Cozee Glove

I missed you guys soooo much! A week break turned in to way longer when Mother  Nature took over. But I am back home and so happy to be back. I have a review of an amazing product for you today. The great people at Lipton Publicity sent me a fall package with another cool Grandoe product. Grandoe really works hard to make you feel like you’re lounging at home no matter where you are. My sister still has the Grandoe Smartdogs, I knew I had lost those. And this time I got to review a pair of their Fall 2012 HomeSpun Comfort Collection Aloe-infused gloves. They come in the most adorable retro knit inspired prints (a got Moose Tracks – too adorable!) and fit like a…well, glove. These lovelies retail at $35, and have the warmest fleece lining that is infused with aloe to treat your hands. I am always a little skeptical of lotion infused products, didn’t think I would really feel a difference after wearing them. I wore mine while waiting on the bus this morning and my hands definitely felt a little softer when I took them off. The palms of these gloves are a chocolate microsuede and they just feel soft all over – and it’s waterproof! I think Grandoe really did their cold weather research when they made these gloves. I am not a huge glove fan, but I will be caring these in my bag until summer rolls around. If you are picky about your gloves and want something warm, durable and super cozy – I would suggest looking for a pair of Grandoe HomeSpun Cozee Gloves (you can get them here). I am in love with mine 🙂

Well darlings, I am spending this weekend adding the best new vintage to ABS Vintage. It has been way too long – so come back and shop around.

Have a great weekend!

Halloween Recap

Happy Monday loves. I wanted to do a quick recap of my Halloween, and hopefully hear about the stylish way you ghouled it up this year. So wearing my hair in a mega puff always made me feel a little Peebles Flintstone. So that’s who I decided to be this year.

My amazing sister made the bones out of felt and the rest was from closet. Homemade costumes are the best.

My super creative friend pulled this lovely together in one day!

She was a Starbucks Caramel Frappe! Down to every detail, her and my sister put this together in no time. Store bought costumes may seem easy but with a great idea you can have something unique in no time (and for no money). She used a brown dress, laminated paper, a paper towel roll and tulle from a craft closet. Everything she already had around her house.

What were you this Halloween weekend? Leave a comment, or better yet email me a picture! (

I am going to take a mini break this week-i hate to be away from you guys but there is lots going on. Have a great week!

Well Dressed Reads and Sexy Ghosts

Happy Friday, lovelies! On this last Friday of the month I can’t even believe that we are almost in November already. Fall just breezes on by too quickly, and before we know it there will be snow on the ground! Well on my mind this Friday is great fashion reads and Halloween festivities. Here is what I’ve been reading…

H&M Unveils Maison Martin Margiela Collection

We have heard them mentioned in a Jay-Z song, and have seen their structured pieces on the runway. Now those $4,000 pieces will be available for less at H&M. The price points are still way too high for my taste but this is a great designer right off the catwalk.

Kids Dress Up As Fashion Bloggers In Crazy-Cute Video

This is beyond adorable. The biggest name in contemporary fashion as miniatures. Little Rachel Zoe and Bryan Boy are my faves.

10 Ways to the Most Stylish Halloween Costume Ever
5 Stylish Halloween Costumes You’ll Wear Again

Fellas, Halloween isn’t just an excuse for ladies to wear less clothes and get away with it. It’s also the perfect time for you to be creative and even more handsome than usual. I knew GQ and Esquire would not fail on giving some tips on how to pull off a fly Halloween costumes. Ooo the Catch Me If You Can costume is too perfect, I’ll take one of those 🙂

What are your costume ideas? Mine is ready for tonight but I’ll wait for the reveal to tell you what I decided to be.

Trying to work on the store this weekend, but I may be traveling again soon so hang in there.

Have a great weekend!

Have a great Wednesday,

Geezer Chic

This post got pushed to the side for a super busy day yesterday, but we can have Manly Monday any day! Last winter I wrote urging all of my handsome gentlemen readers to look to an unlikely source for style tips. I am so happy that the biggest trends for fall is inspired from old time style. Here are your essentials for pulling off old man style this fall:

Cable Knit

This is such a must must have for any chilly weather look. Men and women should consider this a wardrobe essential for any chill weather days. For the fellas, this is a great way to add color and class to your jeans and oxfords.

Printed Ties

The days of simple striped ties has passed. This season it is all about the prints. Plaid, prep strip, foulard, paisley – all classic prints that have made a comeback in a great way.

I really don’t think I ever get tired of seeing men in a pair of slim fit chinos paired with loafers. My biggest love in a good shaped smoking loafer (here is a super expensive example of a pair – you can find them way cheaper) in velvet or with cool designs. Take advantage of the crisp weather before we need to layer on the sock and shoes.

Classic Patterns

Gentlemen, there is way more to your suit and shirt options than plaid and pinstripe. Old man patterns like houndstooth, glen plaid, windowpane and tweed are great blazer or whole suit options. Step out of the basic a bit and do head to toe in one of these oldies.

There are more ways to accessorize your look that watches, my loves. Collar pins, tie bars, cufflinks – all cool ways to add a little something extra. ABS Vintage has some of these goodies available.

Turtlenecks and high water trousers also makes the list for some trend sources. I’m not a huge fan of these looks, so I glossed over them. But make this style your own.

Ladies, you have one more day to enter in the Kushyfoot Giveaway! I will announce the winner tomorrow.

Have a great day 🙂
